Can't you just cancel that window and open up and explorer one, copy the files across ?

Could be the default action for a flash drive has been set up to assume copy to PC, maybe.

I can't find Explorer one on my Vista PC (?) Afraid I don't quite understand how to 'copy files across'.
Don't have Vista any more. Isn't windows explorer in start/accessories somewhere ?

Highlight files by selecting a group of them with the mouse then right click on the selection and choose copy. Then go to the drive in explorer, right click where you want to copy the files to, and choose paste.

(Or you can drag the files across if you open two Explorer windows.)

Found Windows Explorer ie all my files open up except Windows Photo Gallery which is the one I want. I can open windows Photo Gallery from Search. No problem with that. Do I 'tick' each photo that I want & then click edit before connecting the Memory stick? & then paste?
No need to wait until you have copied files before connecting the drive. I'd get it connected first were I you.

You can select, copy & paste one file at a time. Or if you want to do many hold down the shift key as you drag the mouse down the list to select many: or alternatively keep the control key down if the files you want to select are not in a single block to add them to a group one at a time.

Have a play, getting used to selecting/highlighting files, before trying a copy for real.

Thx Old_Geezer for all yr advice. I've no problem highlighting the photos but can't find the copy & paste fingies! Going to have to sleep on it as am swimming 40 lengths in the morning!! Thanks once again!
Ok, my bed time too. You need to press the right button on the mouse whilst the cursor is hovering over the selected block of files to get the menu with the copy option. Similar when at the place you wish to paste them.
On that 'how to view' window, click the Files & Folders option once. You will then get maybe another two folders, the first one that will probably have your photos in it. Simply click and hold any image you want to copy and drag it to your desktop and let go. Repeat until you have all the ones you want.
You may want to rightclick on the desktop and choose New - folder and call it my pics or whatever. Open that and drag all the photos to that folder so you keep your desktop tidy.
Remove your MS and print/view/mail any of the piccies you want. This is the easiest way but not the quickest.

Good evenin friends! Still can't get the 'jist' of transferring photos from Windows Photo gallery to my Memory Stick. May reluctantly get nephew or grand daughter over to assist as not sure how to 'copy files across' as suggested by Old Geezer. I didn't know I had to COPY(how?) photos to a file when they're already in Photos Gallery?! And, Wildwood, where is the 'How to view' window? (I Must be the dimmest PC 'operator' on the planet!!)
Your certainly not dim potty64, I cant do it either!!! Good luck x
Step by step:
Insert your Memory Stick in your PC.
When you get the screen headed "Autoplay", leave the memory stick in the PC but close the Autoplay window by clicking on the X in the top right corner.
Now open Windows Photo Gallery and click on the two small squares (next to the X) in the top right of this screen. Now go to the top of the left panel on this screen and click on the plus sign next to "All pictures and videos". Now click on "Pictures" and all the photos on your computer will be shown as thumbnails.
Next open your Desktop screen (That's the screen that you see when you turn your computer on and is usually accessed by clicking on the small blue rectangle on the bottom left of any screen. If you hover your mouse over this blue rectangle it will say "Show Desktop)
Now double click on the "My Computer" icon on the desktop and you'll see all the drives on your computer. The memory stick which you inserted a few minutes ago will be shown as ("Removable disk" and then a letter e.g. (F:))
If you double click on this drive letter it will show you what you've got on the memory stick already, or it will say that the drive is empty.
Again, on this screen click on the two small squares at the top right. This will reduce the size of this window.
You will now have two small windows on the screen; the Memory Stick window and the Windows Photo Gallery window. You can move these windows around by holding the left mouse button down and dragging the window to a new position.
You should be able to position the two window side by side so that you can see them both together.

Click on any one of the thumbnails in the Windows Photo Gallery window and its background will be highlighted. Now with the left mouse button held down, move the thumbnail across into the Memory Stick window and release the mouse button.

Congratulations! You've performed a "Drag and Drop"!

When you let us know that you've successfully done this, please let us know and someon on here will show you how to copy several photos at once.

Hope this helps!
