how can i get rid of windows updater.exe.tmp ran avg and it still there tried msconfig to get it off start up but it keeps starting

Install Malwarebytes. Scan the computer. Before you let it remove anything it finds, turn off System Restore - some things will reload from System Restore next time you restart.

How to Fix Update.exe.tmp Error Efficiently?
Method One: Simply disable Update.exe.tmp file.
If you have come across Update.exe.tmp error messages on your computer, you can choose to directly disable from Windows Task Manager:
Step One: Press CTRL+ALT+DELETE to enable Task Manager on your PC.
Step Two: Click Processes.
Step Three: Locate and right-click the Update.exe.tmp file.
