wireless problems

im(daughters lappy) unable to get online even tho its stating im connected in the icon tray,im trying to get online through a mini wireless adapter and a virgin media super hub.
some of the messages ive received have been cant find certificate,problems renewing ip address,media disconnected etc.
ive tried everything google has had to offer but still no joy,any experts out there with any other options apart from auction it on ebay and buy a laptop with built in wifi
