Ink cartridge is full but shows on screen as if its empty.

I just put a new cartridge in my printer but the window shows the ink as almost finished. How can I correct this?

did you shake the cartridge and clean the nozzle before popping in?

or nozzle may be blocked and ink not reaching sensor?

Have you taken the bit of plastic off the cartridge?

There is a bit of gold coloured plastic stuff on the cartridge but it seems to be firmly attached. Should I just pull it?

BTW, its printing fine, no problems there.

I can see lots of little gold studs beneath the shiny brown clear cellophane style bit of paper.

Ive pulled it off and now it wont print at all.

Have you put it in correctly and firmly?

Did you insert the new cartridges with the printer 'switched on'.? This is a requirement with a lot of Printers...especially HP.
