A client of mine (who lives in London) has received a General Form of Judgment or Order, with an oral representation hearing booked for Sheffield. Does he have to attend this stage?

Thanks

Not sure that I can be of any help but do you mean "verbal" rather than "oral"? Maybe you could Google it to see exactly what it means and whether or not he has to attend in person. If it's verbal representation then feel he may have to be there.
Why is the case still in Sheffield when your client lives in London?
Is your client the plaintiff or defendant?
Is this a debt case, does your client require a debt relief order?
An oral hearing is usually on appeal where more information is required from one of the parties.
More information is required to answer your question properly.
Your client needs to pay the Judgement debt, if he does he can inform the Court and the Oral exam will be cancelled. He needs to be served with the order by hand, it cannot be posted to him. He must attend, failure to do so means I can be arrested and brought before the Court for Contempt of Court. All this is explained on the Oral Exam forms he received, is it not the case it's you who are the Debtor and your looking for a way of avoiding appearing in Court. When you go to Court take a full list of your assets, bank accounts, cars, property, income, investment and debts, it might well be the next stage is a Bankruptcy Order and this matters going to drag on for the next 3 years, - your choice entirely?
