Ipod mini not syncing

Hi I have an Ipod mini, its been fine untill a few weeeks ago. Now when i plug it in it says do not disconnect.
It is recognised on my pc but not in itunes. I have reinstalled itunes, reset the ipod, and even done an ipod test. It said that the library was missing on my ipod.
I have tried to update ipod .
Now i have no songs on it and cant put any on from itunes. Does anyone know what i can do to fix it.

I have already downloaded Trans doctor and done the test, that is how i found out that my ipod library was missing.
Do you think this software will fix it, or will i be wasting my money? When i ran a test on itunes it said that my ipod device driver not found. Ive tried updating it but havent had any luck. I cant update ipod software because i dont have that option in itunes
