The Super-Lidl at Dowlais Top, Merthyr Tydfil opened today, and yes, it does have proper toilets !

Our new one was supposed to be open by Christmas, but with less than 4 weeks to go I doubt if it will be. Not to worry, it will be worth the wait - double the size of the one it is replacing.

Maggie...I reckon, and the Security Guard agreed with me, that the new one at Dowlais was probably 3-4 times bigger than the one it replaced.

We have a fairly new Lidl near us but it has only six tills. I went in there this afternoon and it was packed. I have yet to see all the tills open.
On the plus side, My weekly shop, wine included, only came to £48.00.

Next three weeks, Lidl, the fourth week......... Waitrose. (Christmas food)

31 Station Terrace, Dowlais Top, in September 1925. There is even a blue plaque on her house, probably the only one in Dowlais. The railway is long gone, alas.

Here is another piece of Laura Ashley trivia. ..............The scarf that Audrey Hepburn wore in "Roman Holiday" ( one of my favourite films ) was designed by Ashley, long before she became famous.

Try your local Lidl....you will be amazed by the range and quality of the food on sale. At this time of year, you will also find lots of different Xmassy stuff, that you just won't find anywhere else.

It won't hurt to have a look, will it ? Wear a false beard and sunglasses if necessary !

MM....you are right in your list ! Their fruit and nut chocolate is scrumptious and so cheap. Have you tried those gingerbread thingys, that look like Jaffacakes !
