Hi, I am trying to download a copy of Unigraphics NX6 to teach myself.
When I Google it I get lots of these torrent sites that supposedly give you free downloads.
I know nothing about these torrent sites or how they work. I registered with one particular site and searched for NX6. It just lead me to another site that wanted me log again register and this time asking for my card details. I backed out.

Can someone please explain about torrents. I have heard horror stories about them being a breeeding ground for viruses/scams etc.

Cheers
Mike

No expert but as understand it torrents are simply a way to share files peer to peer. There are sites that can list where things are found. But this tech can be misused for pirated stuff. If you are being passed from site to site then that is suspiscious and I'd run a scan on your PC if I were you. Bearing in mind that new trojans tend to not be discovered by AV until after they've been around for a while.

Seems to me that if this NX6 company provided a free trial version you'd have but the one place to visit. Anything else is at your own risk.

You choose if you want take a risk downloading one of these sources (I must be lucky since I haven't had any problems with torrents yet).
