I have no sound on an inherited
I have no sound on an inherited "Toshiba Model P100-240. I have tried all the usual checks ie volume control mute etc to no avail. Can anyone help please.

Check there is not a manual volume knob on it, some toshibas have a little wheel on them to adjust the volume.
if not try reinstalling the sound card drivers.

Follow the steps to fix your sound:
Step 1
Open the sound panel in Windows. In the lower right hand corner, look for a round icon that looks like an uncovered speaker. Double click on this. Turn the sound all the way up and ensure that the Mute box is unchecked. Check the sound and see if it works. If not, proceed to Step 2.
Step 2
Click "Start."
Click "Control Panel."
Double click "System."
Click "Hardware."
Open the device manager, then double click on "Sound, Video and Game Controllers." Right click "Audio Codecs," and click "Properties." If working properly, it will say so. If not, log onto the Toshiba website and re-download the driver.

Plug your headphones into the headphone jack and check the sound that way. If there is sound on the headphones, then you probably have a speaker problem, and you will need to send the computer off for repair
