The cursor on my laptop is going through a period of freezing and I have to switch off then on to sort it. It's done this before for a while but then stopped doing it. No changes in anything I do on the laptop. Does anyone have an idea of what might be the cause/cure?

TIA

Usually when the machine is processing heavy things. Do you have a lot of applications open at the time or an enormous excel spreadsheet?

Try running a cleanup program like Ccleaner (Free) to get rid of any rubbish hanging around.
Try updating your mouse driver. If you don't know how, tell us what operating system your laptop has
Have a wired USB mouse to hand – plug it in when the cursor freezes, to overcome the issue.

At least you then won’t lose any unsaved information through switching the laptop off.
Alternatively, unplug the mouse sensor and plug it in to a different usb port - that will reset the driver.
