Printer not responding

I haven't used my printer for a couple of days and now it it wont print. Lights on and every thing seeems ok but when I press print from mylap top as normal nothing happens

the printer is HP Deskjet 3050

Can any one help please?

I've just tried the connections bibblebub and every thing seemd ok - but will get granddadg to check again when he wakes up

Cable loose or out of ink.

Ink is fine - Ratter - I only replaced it a couple of weeks ago and not printed much since and no message saying ink low. I've checked the connections but will get granddadg to check again. hopefully that will do it thankyou both

It might be that there is stuff 'waiting to be printed' and causing a log-jam.

Try clicking on your screen on start (bottom left icon) then depending on the age of your machine you will see a menu that has either 'control panel' or 'printers and scanners'.
Either way from this you can get to a menu that shows what the printer is actually doing. If you see documents in the list waiting to be printed, click on them and select 'delete' or 'cancel printing'.
If it is a queue that's got stuck, that will cure it and then you can print.

thank you all for your help I have tried all the suggestions and to no avail I will I have to get our friendly computer engineer in to have a look

Log off switch the printer & computer off at the switch wait for 30 seconds then try again, if yo have no luck check properties to make sure your printer is online.

I've done all that edward it now says that the printer is offline - what do I do please?

Go to devices & printers right click on your printer icon and it should give you a few options, click set as default printer.

I am trying to scan a document from my HP Deskjet 3050 I have out the document on the glass and pressed scan but I get the message 'Scan error try scan from computr' I have copied documents begfor so I don't know what is wrong
