One of my best friends is a lesbian and I'm a girl!! I know whole heartedly she would never try anything and she's a fab friend. I'm never in her comapny thinking, ooo what if she fancies me, what if she tries something cause I know she won't. She admitted years ago that when we first met she did fancy me but it never worried me! In fact I thought it was quite flattering!! Oh and she knows how much I love men!!
Isn't it about your individual tastes in a person rather than what sex they are? I'm a woman and not gay but that doesn't mean I fancy every single man I ever come across - yuck no! I would be quite happy having a lesbian friend - it would be completely inappropriate (and disrespectful to the friend) to assume that she fancies me just because I'm female. I'm sure there are many lesbians who would find me unattractive (through personal choice) just as I'm sure many men do - sadly!!
devilwoman-so what if one of your closest female friends told u she were a lesbian?
would u no longer have anything to do with her?

iv known a couple of lesbians before and they were lovely people.i also use to go to gay clubs with them and its probebly one of the best clubs i have been to,everyone was so friendly.

dont know any lesbians or gays, but when i said i would be comfortable with a gay man friend, i was thinking more of a fictious charecter in a soap, he seems to be friendly and so forth, i know its not real, but dont have real experience of it, of course if my best friend told me she swung that way, i would still value her as much as ever, i would never fal out with her cos it. anyway i love cliff, and evryone says he's gay, but am i bovvered? lol

Why wouldn't you feel comfortable with a lesbian friend? Do you think that she'd be trying it on with you all the time? Is that what you think homosexuals do? Try it on with everyone of the same sex? :oD
ome of my best mates is a gay lad ...and he acts as a drag queen as well ..doing nightclubs.
One of my best mates that i grew up with is Bi - perhaps thats the best option...bit gay, bit straight...... very confusing when she told me how it works though....:o\

i guess i wouldnt know untill it happens, my experience is very limited, eg paul in emmerdale, shaun from corrie,
i'm a saddo. lol. but i'm a lovely person really.
Don't know any lesbians- best friend Jonathan is gay and i love him more than my girl friends. I know where you're coming from if you think that if a lesbian sees you then she'll fancy you and make it uncomfortable- but i'm sure that isn't the case.

So based on one's sexual preference they are less likely to to able to give support, advice, love and kinship? Just because they choose to spend their life with another woman or man that makes them less able to be called a friend?

This is the kind of ignorance that curses education. It's completely ludicrous.
I tried chatting up two girls in a Canadian nightclub a few years ago with no success, after about 10 minutes of my best lines the prettiest one said "your wasting your time trying to get us to go with you because we're both lesbians".
Quick as a flash I said "really? which part of lesbia do you come from"?
Crash + burn!!!!!!

That's the trouble with lesbians, no sense of humour
pa____ul - Lmao i was just trying to say that i'm sure not all lesbians fancy every woman they say - i wasn't trying to imply anything Devilwoman :o)
*say = see
I have to concur with the general concensus here - sexual orientation is no assurance of attraction - as a straight man, I do not find every woman I see attractive, and I would never be so arrogant as to assume that any gay man finds me attractive simply because I am a man.

Individuals are far more complex than that, or any sexual orientation.

I was very close friends with a lesbian collague, it was a wonderful friendship, and I learned a lot about the complexities of same-sex relationships, which are a million mils away from the typical sterotyping that heterosexual society enforces on them.

I would never gravitate towards or veer away from anyone on the basis of their sexual preferences - i would feel very shallow.
