Let me say from the outset, that i find this one of the most entertaining programmes on TV. However, don't you find that there are an ordinate number of gays, lesbians and blacks? It may well be that they are representative of the UK.

Now, when he refers to a "fart in a lift" I find that quite unnecessary and offensive and i wonder how our Aber solicitors and Barristers feel about this. There are many medical programmes on TV but we do not see this degree of hilarity and rudeness as in Judge Rinder.

Just a thought folks.

your patients would never stand for you saying 'gerrout of here you stinky old man' but this is television and not surfical out patients .... He is in fact a criminal QC - I met a few [ beaucoup appeles peu choisis ] of the rejects down in Darzet - they went thro a few retired judges who turned the idea down -and for civil law I think he does quite well Clearly the fact...

Sqad - // ... i wonder how our Aber solicitors and Barristers feel about this.//

It's not about the law, or him being an appropriate representative thereof, it's about television, and his entertainment value, and that is why he was chosen, and why he succeeds.

Imagining that Judge Rinder renders an accurate image of the legal profession is to assume that the hotel and catering industry enjoy having Basil Fawlty as a figurehead.
Seen one seen all. Same repetitive courseness for hilarity.....yawn

A-H I know! I know, but i just wondered if members of our Judicial society found it cringeworthy.

ummmm....Personally I find it offensive and inappropriate but i do accept that it is common parlance amongst friends and "gatherings."

However for a Judge to use that sort of language, on TV or otherwise, I feel it is degrading, insulting and inappropriate.
I know BarMaid likes it.
next he'll have "ronnie pickering" as his court official.......
Hey could you imagine Ronnie Kray as the court official

and he is camp but not gay - married with three kids I think
(OK that doesnt make him straight but goes a long way ! )

the phrase he uses is:

I can tell a lie like a fart in a lift ....

and I have to say not having done much court work - with all the fol-de-rolling, up down up down - all rise ! frizzy wigs and muh lordz

with all the ritual - you can tell when people lie ...
( xc the lawyers well they lie all the time like flat fish )
Expecting judge rinder to conduct himself in the same way he would in a real Court is like expecting the same NHS A&E treatment in real life as you do on 'Casualty'.
Was Rob Rinder's marriage (civil ceremony) to Seth Cummings a spoof Peter?
Question Author
Retrochic......no! no! You wouldn't expect Casualty or A&E doctors to use phrases like "fart in a lift"....BUT.....at the same time you wouldn't expect a judge in court to use such terms..........but Judge Rinder does.

See what i am getting at?
Oops reading different papers mama

The article I had was he had to decide whether or not to go the Turks and Caicos for a jolly good poss up erm sorry Appeal Hearing lasting months and months and costing pounds and pounds
or do another series
and he decided on the series o and he had three kids

I dont read daily mail colour pieces with the attention I do to einstein's theory of relativity - I doubt if I should start
I always think of Peter Sellers as Inspector Clousseau and his
fart in the lift scene!
Sqad do you remember
your life in their hands ?

b and w with Charles Fletcher ?

Caused a lot of offence in the profession with surgeons and others threatening it was the End of His Career

mentioned him as a student in the seventies as a Barts man and prize winner and couldnt believe the amount of gall ( and spleen ) that was unleashed amongst his then comtemporaries [ in my direction ]

Is Open All Hours like a modern day Lidl's I would ask you in "answer" to some of your observations ?
The Judge Rinder TV series is not about the people trying to attain justice, its about Judge Rinder, who some people find funny, and some not.

Most of the people taking part are there for their 15 minutes of fame, like the gay OTT Asian bloke today.

Its a bit like the Jeremy Kyle show, without the tattoos and benefit cheats, and yes there does seem to be a gay & black pattern.
He was Benidict Cummberbatchs's best man - old school friends I think and BC officiated at his wedding
