Corn snakes are a popular pet and hopefully will end up at the RSPCA to find a suitable home for it. They are not venomous and seem to me to make a rather boring pet. Once fed they just lay around.

More than once in the link the Snake is identified as an Adder not a Corn Snake.
Baldric, sensationalism is a popular trait with publishers.
