A 7ry old boy I know has always been like this so wondered if anyone had a bit of a clue.

He is academically bright and capable
Socially he is on the outskirts and always goes to the back of the q
He is a very compliant boy who will do as he is told... Once he understands and remembers!!
He has slight orditory processing disfunction (instructions told will be forgotten in seconds)
He will only eat specific foods in a specific way. Such as chips cooked in a way he knows, cheese sandwiches, boiled eggs (that he has to take the shell off) bread n butter. These things have to be separated and if any of them touch he won't eat it. He would rather starve.
He will always smell the food
He eats with his teeth and the food doesn't touch his lips.
He smells everything
If he washes his hadn't he will smell then constantly for hours
He will constantly put his hands to his mouth (even if not smelling things)
He is not always aware of social niceties but seems to want to be included

I have tried looking on Google but keep getting sites for autism but can't seem to pin it down

My son has sensory processing disorder which is like that, and often related to autism (his is). But his GP should refer him to a paediatrician for a diagnosis.
There are a few things you mention there that do sit on the Autistic Spectrum - but it is so very wide, you need specialist help, that is if you think he needs it.
The autistic spectrum is large. He needs to be assessed but unfortunately any diagnosis does not mean that help will be available.
The autism spectrum encompasses a great many and varied disorders. (I should know; I'm on it!).

There is nothing in what you've written that wouldn't fall with the broad definition of 'autism' but such a label, in itself, is rather meaningless because it can actually mean so many different things.
Cassa, my 10 year old exhibits certain traits you mention and help will be available regardless of what othes seem to think however, it won't fall at your feet! You need to push and push and effing push more! Try looking up your local childhood development centre and speak with your family doctor and school for refererral to the Educational Psychologist in your area! We are very lucky in that my boy's school, despite being quite large care for every child regardless of differences! Guessing here but, your Doctor's surgery may have someone who specializes in paediatric medicine! That would be my first port of call! It's a long road for your whole family, so I wish you well!
