Olympic Stadium work has now been completed but when West Ham United take over the Stadium after the Olympics their Fans along with the visiting Fans will need Binoculars to watch the Game ! Looks a great Stadium but it is not a Football venue as the pitch is too far away from the seated areas.
Bayern Munich played at the Olympic Stadium in Munich up until 2005 but moved to the purpose built Allianz Arena instead, as their supporters complained so much about the poor atmosphere at the Stadium. Average gates for them have gone up from around 35,000 to 69,000 ! If West Ham are not careful they may suffer the same fate.

I agree.

We have an athletics track at Withdean.

It's nothing like as wide as an Olympic track, but ...

... you are SOOOOOO far from the pitch.

It takes away a lot of the atmosphere.
Atmosphere?? In Brighton?? Well I never!!!!!!!!!
I thought they were going to add more seats once the Olympics were over?

Anyway, when they get relegated they`ll be lucky to get 20,000 fans in there
Wembley seems to get a good atmosphere
Theres no running track at Wembley.

Remember the entire top of the Olympic stadium is only temporary and will be demolished so the finished West Ham stadium will look very different.
According to Karen Brady it will be closer than Wembley, or has she been clever with her wording?
Last I heard Karen Brady said they were going to have a refit and there would be removable seating that could be put away for athletics events but would cover the track for football. You're not by chance a Spurs or Orient fan are you Redman?
Hmm I think that Brady has been very "frugal" with the truth, but I believe when she said that she was talking about the furthest seat from the opposite penalty area or possibly goal line which is 200m or Yards.

I have been in those seats at Wembley I wasn't impressed.
Karen Brady said that the seats furthest away from the pitch at the new stadium, would be 10 yards closer to the pitch than the furthest seats at Wembley.
I have checked, and as I suspected she was being a bit clever with her comparisons:

"the seat furthest away at the Olympic Stadium is ten yards closer to the pitch than the seat furthest away at Wembley"

Not a very impressive claim really, to compare the two worst seats.
Rattygirl - In the pictures of that, there was no running track, not covered it didn't exist.

As I said frugal.

No I'm not a Spurs or Orient fan rattyratgirl, I'm trying to take an impartial view of the situation. West Ham won the vote because they opted to keep the Athletics Track in place. Time will tell if they have made a good choice.
