I've just got three of them in my change and they're all dated 2016. I've heard that they may be worth up to £250 each to collectors, but I'm not convinced. The Royal Mint said they made half a million of them last year, so that's hardly a rarity is it?

If people really think that these are worth £250, than they completely potty. I suspect that many more than 500,000 will be produced before the year is out.

Its just another urban myth in the making, ready to take in the gullible.

Neither am I convinced, but I bet they are being horded, just in case.

It might explain why I have been trying to get one since Tuesday, without any luck !

///Some of the new £1 coins dated '2016' are in circulation and are already being listed on eBay for as much as £250///
What you ask for and what you get can be two very different things. When a local bank issued a 'George Best' £5 note some years back people were asking crazy prices for them. I think you could buy one now for about 8 or 9 pounds.
These new coins might be worth putting aside. You never know.
