This really happened!!!!! What or how did the game end (just for a laugh)
At Football League match a team was losing 3-0 at half-time, and refused to return to the field after the interval because of bad weather; that is except their goalie. The ref blew to restart and play resumed with 11 men bearing down on the hapless keeper. This goalie was a shrewd fellow and immediately shouted "offside".

At the Battle of Bramall Lane, the referee abandoned the match when Sheffield United were reduced to six players - you need seven as a minimum.

I think you'll find a player cannot be offside in his own half, so if he picks the ball up there and carries it forward until scoring he cannot be called offside.
The battle of Bramall Lane..I was there..Warnock was and is a disgrace..
Sir Gary sorted him out.
If the kick off is taken and the ball played forward it can't be offside.
The game would have been abandoned if 10 players from one team walked off .

This goalie was a shrewd fellow and immediately shouted "offside". after they had passed between a couple of players. When he took possession for the free-kick he kept passing to himself in his area until the ref gave up and abandoned the game. What was the ref's name? Sounds crazy but it did happen.
Definitely crazy, but it happened in 1891 when Burnley raced into a 3-0 lead over East Lancashire rivals Blackburn. The infamous Rovers keeper was Herbie Arthur and the referee was J C Clegg from Sheffield.
