I am usually making my evening meal around 6.30 to 7 pm but i could easily have it a half hour later for a short period of time.

Definitely not - needs a smart meter
Nope.
I’d rather them deduct the £100 off my Bill , if they can afford doing this then why not ?
Well yes I would but I'd have thought that most are already using a minimum of energy anyway so I'd struggle to find what to turn off.
no, i dont have a smart meter, and the effort involved doesn't seem to give enough of a benefit. "up to" £100 is not £100
Unplug the servants quarters TTT.
good idea YMB!
I signed up this morning. It says there will be at least 12 'saving sessions' in winter and possibly lots more. 24 notice is given so it won't take much to adjust my use of appliances and if I don't manage it it hasn't cost me anything. So I saw no reason not to sign up.
The aim is not really to save the customer money but to reduce the demand for electricity at the peak period (4-7pm) and make it less likely they will have to have deliberate blackouts because they cannot meet demand.

It's about avoiding blackouts rather than reducing your energy costs.

Yes, but without a reward for reducing one's energy use during these peak hours, no-one would bother doing so.
You don't get owt for nowt!
Right I'm going to do my bit and turn everything off and go down the club from 4-7pm on week days. Don't try and talk me out of it, it's for the Common good and that's the kind of guy I am.
...... but your house will be cold when you get back?
"...that's the kind of guy I am."

Aye, as muck. :-)
Yes, we intend to sign up. We already have a smart meter and can very easily adjust our energy usage.
Between 4 and 7 I have on my television and a light in the room I'm in, I can't see it makes a lot of difference, I'm not sitting in candlelight as I have mobility problems I need bright light. I cook with gas. I don't want a smart meter.
We were part of the trial for Octopus. Very fiddly and saves a few pence - not worth it.
Assuming you don't join TTT down the club, you probably won't want to turn off heating, so the main way of saving power us will be by not using an electric hob or oven. Hard luck if you cook by gas.
I'm with BG but haven't been invited. Could that be because I haven't had the heating on since I turned it off in the Spring?
Same as goodgoalie !
