We are now approaching a new year,2023 and many people are wondering if the coming months will bring better things.

Do you see the world as badly in need of reliable direction?. Politicians clamoring for public support promise much but leave shattered hopes behind them.
Half truths and outright falsehood have become the world’s stock in trade, and it has corroded relations in business and among neighbors and family members. The result is that many become cynical and say they do not believe anyone.

And those who turn to the religions of the world do not find a much brighter prospect. Religious teachers do not agree among themselves, nor do they teach what the Bible say or agree with the Bible, which they say is filled with ‘fables’ and statements that are ‘not historically accurate.’

Goodlife, I find it really sad that you need to be told to do that. Others do it because it's the kind of people they are. They don't need instruction to be kind.
I prefer 'and it hurt none do as thou wilt'. Short ,catchy, covers all the bases, no prophets, saints, or sinners. Just a human way to live a decent life.

Locusts: You are confusing people. But I am sure You're not confused.
As a Bible believer like yourself, so you are looking forward to that time then quoting those scriptures in Isaiah that has not happened yet. We don't know when these things will be, but Jesus did give us signs to look for which will help in seeing where we are in the stream of time. Revelation 1 verse 3

Naomi: Yes and don't we live in a Kind & loving world!! Everywhere we look, in every country, there are civil unrest, crime, violence, poverty etc. Where are the kind & loving people? But I can tell you this, throughout the world there are millions of JWs who do practice love and kindness to all - and not just among themselves but to ALL people regardless of race, nationality, colour, social standing.
// Where are the kind & loving people? //

Your religion blinds you, goodlife. Practically every major charity working to relieve suffering in the world today is secular - and, unlike your cohorts, they really do work for all. Those people don't need an imaginary God - or a Jehovah's Witness - to tell them how to treat others.
\\ throughout the world there are millions of JWs who do practice love and kindness to all - and not just among themselves but to ALL//
Please explain then, why, whenever a JW knocks on my door they quickly get angry when I question their statements?
They refuse to answer any question and just keep repeating the mantra they've been taught to say. I see very little evidence of love or kindness.
goodlife, do a quick Google search for 'impact of jehova's witnesses on family life'.
Spouting a belief and then finding a quote from your tome of choice does not make your belief true.

It's still only ever what you believe.

If Tom Cruise quotes L Ron Hubbard, is he any more right or wrong than you?

Zacs-Master Do you believe everything you hear or say on Google and find out later on that is not true , that's what I found. See it for yourself go to a Kingdom hall, or whatever church and see the difference.
I will give you an example of good an loving JW. My own uncle who was the nastiest piece of work I have ever known. Abused his daughters ( mental and physical). Mentally tortured his wife until she was a slave in her own home, verbally abused his sister to the point she couldn't be in the same room as him. Continually took money from his mother, using the threat of not seeing her grandchildren,
And his son told me his brother's and sisters at the hall were aware of his abuses and held him up as an example of a good father! Even when they saw the bruises.

I have known families torn apart over medical decisions involving the treatment of children, and children cut off from families once they decided it was not a faith they wanted to follow.

He tried bullying me once...... Just once,

( other fundamentalist Christian faiths can be as bad... Don't get me started on Christadelphians, and Plymouth Brethren, both of which proclaim the bible as the true and literal word of god)
Goodlife, of course I don't but if you do Google that phrase you'll see a host of overwhelmingly negative results. Faced with such a mountain of evidence a person would be very foolish to conclude anything but that JWs cause an awful lot of damage to family life.

Vulcan, when you say JW get angry, are you sure they are jW's you are speaking to? Because that is not the way we are taught. Also, we have no mantra. We speak to the householder and we will answer questions. If we don't know the answer we will come back when we've found it. Go to the Kingdom Hall and check it out for yourself.

We've got a very good police force at the moment and they are there to protect people as well as children if anything is wrong and you don't think its right go to them , that is their job. All my job is to proclaim the Bible message of Gods Kingdom which will change the world for the better. Matthew 24:14
Goodlife, if you read the responses here you will see that quite often the reader has encountered Jehovah's Witnesses. I think most of us have - and I can't recall anyone saying it was a pleasant, enlightening or useful experience.
They could have notified the police about at risk individuals, too busy covering up for wrong doers in their congregation, no better than the Churches that covered for their paedophile priests. I don't think much good has ever come from yours and any other sad, sick religious nonsense.
goodlife, why whenever I say the JW's are rude, ,somebody, in this case you, suggest these people aren't who they say they are? Those who come to me have identity badges saying who they are, why would imposters pretend to be JW's and go to the trouble and expense involved just to wear fake I D's? They always have plenty of copies of the Watchtower and Awake, do you think they print those as well?
Rude, aggressive, patronising... Some of the ladies are more pleasant but the men. No it's a patriarchal group and it seems to attract a certain type mix, bullies and victims
Question Author
Naomi & Vulcan, so you've met the millions of Jehovah's Witnesses, have you?
By the way, we do not wear identification badges. only at conventions. I think you are referring to the Mormons.
Yes, there are fake JWs. I've met them at our assemblies and conventions they come in for the food and try to take laptops, cameras etc.
People don't need religion these days. Climate Change fairy tales have taken the place of that. Along with the mythical traffic pollution. O ye of little....wotsit.
A family of JW's live next door but one to me. They are of the belief that we are on the verge of Armageddon. Gulp! :o)
