The Non Religious

Pardon the pun, but playing devils advocate here. Are the atheists and non-religious who contribute to R&S (and I'm including myself in this) sometimes a bit too quick to condemn, criticise and type ad hominem remarks in response to religious posts?

R&S section (just like news) seems to bring out the worst in people. We all have opinions but wouldn't it be better to try and have a reasoned and *rational* discussion rather than some of the heated exchanges that so often happens?

As I said, I'm including myself in this as sometimes Ive been a bit hasty replying, with some off the cuff remarks that I may not have made in a real life situation.

Rubbish. “If there were no God, there would be no atheists”, implies that God is an irrefutable reality which is clearly abject nonsense - and utterly irrational is his other oft quoted deliberation, “When men choose not to believe in God, they do not thereafter believe in nothing, they then become capable of believing in anything.” If that’s one of the greatest minds, ‘God’ save us from it!

As regards my calling Theland a dufus, yes it was an ad hominem remark and I regret saying it (indeed, I will apologise to Theland for saying it)
but as regards your other C&P of my remarks, then I fail to see how they were 'loaded' in any way.

I rarely answer religious questions because if something doesn't exist in the first place how can you argue about it. Except in an abstract manner.
Theists often quote the bible and claim it as true but are never able to prove it.
As far as they are concerned if it is written in any form in the bible 'it must be true even if the event occurred millennia before there was any life on earth.
