the religious and capital punishment
80 Answers
I would like to hear religious peoples attitude towards capital punishment.
State sanctioned execution is obviously a contentious and contraversial subject at the best of times but Im more interested in the religious aspect of it.
If you are religious, what crimes would warrent death? Are there 'crimes' that your holy books once sanctioned death for that are no longer applicable? Would society be better of if we (in the western world) followed your religious laws concerning capital punishment?
Thanks.
(obviously, thread open to non religious as well...)

Yes there are. Depending on which book and chapter you're reading, the following can be accurately described as being included in the 'ten' commandments;
Do not make molten gods;
Keep the feast of unleavened bread;
The first-born offspring of every cow and sheep is to be sacrificed to God;
All male children must appear before God three times per year;
Do not boil a baby goat in its mother's milk.
etc.
There are no less than three sets of 'ten' commandments in the bible – none of which match. When anyone mentions the biblical 'ten commandments', the correct response is to ask which 'ten commandments' they are referring to.

Wasnt aware that I was Andy.
"Islam advocates capital punishment for religious reasons today "
I know, thats why I asked if western society would be better off if we followed religious laws re: capital punishment. Unfortunetly no advocates of the islamic faith have answered.
