Modeller; Oddly enough, I just happen to be reading at the moment 'The first Christian, St Paul's Impact on Christianity', by the estimable, Karen Armstrong. Paul was a contemporary of Jesus though they never met, but it might be as close as one can get, being the first of the gospels. She is a great fan of Paul, though doesn't hide the fact that he has been subject to much criticism through the ages.

Khandro - //But Christianity isn't about the absolute and correct historical truth, how and why should it be? //

How? It can't be - it is based on faith, not fact.

Why should it be? - It would give a deal more weight to a concept that is based on a desire for it to be true, rather than any evidence that it is.
