Do you think applying this verse would help marriages last? Read Matthew 5:28.

Come, come, Clanad. Is that a little paranoia I detect? See the word ‘another’ in my post? That indicates that your offering was not the only one addressed. The thing is your post in response to that from Chris demonstrates quite clearly yet another biblical contradiction, and yet you write as though it illustrates the wisdom of the scriptures. It doesn’t – and for obvious reasons.

“Orgulous”. Now there’s a word we don’t see often! ;o)
'orgulous' indeed , isn't that just a bit err, well orgulous?
Does this mean that the big Boss was a perv too? Genesis 1:27

In many lands today, some 40 percent or more of all marriages are ending in divorce.

The Bible’s advice regarding marriage whether your marriage is days or decades old, the Bible’s advice on how to maintain and strengthen it really does work.
Goodlife, Why do you need someone else to tell you how to keep your marriage together?
The Bible's advice on how to strengthen marriage is for the woman to be subservient to the man.

It is *** advice.

beso@ for you and those who do not know the Bible, does a true Christian submission to rulers mean abject slavery to them, you say being totally subservient.

The inspired answer is, No. It says “Be as free people, and yet holding your freedom, not as a blind for badness...........1 Peter 2:16.

Naomi we all deserve to die, God chooses to give everlasting life to those who love him.

Is that unfair? The Bible says: What shall we say, then? Is there injustice with God? Never may that become so!

I will have mercy upon whomever I do have mercy, and I will show compassion to whomever I do show compassion.’ . . . Who, then, really are you to be answering back to God—Romans 9:14-20.

Did our Creator have all this written down for the trees.

Such a spiritually negative person just can’t see that marriages today are breaking up left, right & centre.

Some even break up on the wedding day! Guidance from the Bible helps couples. Regardless of what you say Naomi, many people go into marriage blind expecting it to be a “bed of roses”, so yes, they do need help.
Do we all really deserve to die? Especially when I didn't ask to live....

agchristie, Why do you say that.
So why is the US Jehovah's divorce rate above that of the average rate, goodlife, 14% vs 12% and, oh how sweet, the data source is from the JWs themselves.
Goodlife, I was responding to your reply to Naomi.

I witnessed a terrible accident the other day when a young woman was knocked down by a bus and left with serious injuries, she is still fighting for her life.

What does she deserve?
goodlife, DTC has posted this:

In view of what you've said about marriage and how the bible helps, would you care to comment, or is it another case of the 14% are not really JWs?
Survey of 35000 people across the USA in 2008, by the US Religious Landscape Survey. What was surprising was the low figure for Muslims who came in at 9%. Mainline Protestant @12%, Black Protestant 16%, Catholics 10%, Jewish 9 and Atheists at 10% Percentages are for divorced and separated.
Goodlife, //Naomi we all deserve to die,//

Why? Because we're not all brainwashed? You really are a dangerous man, Goodlife.
The religious traditionally enter marriage having never lived together or even engaged in sex.

Atheists are more likely to marry after spending several years together. My wife and I married after ten years.

Personally I believe those who marry without that kind of experience are insulting the institution of marriage.
goodlife //beso@ for you and those who do not know the Bible,//

You are quite wrong there. Like many atheists I do know the Bible.

Any self respecting person who has read the Bible would be an atheist.

They are proud of it. Jesus said he was here to cause division.
Matthew:
35 "For I have come to 'set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law';
36 "and 'a man's enemies will be those of his own household.'

The JW cult is notorious for breaking up families.

I don't see any reference to wives in your quote.

This one is explicit for not just wives but all women:

"Let a woman learn quietly with all submissiveness. I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet." (1 Timothy 2:11-12)
Goodlife, //Regardless of what you say Naomi, many people go into marriage blind expecting it to be a “bed of roses”, so yes, they do need help. //

And it's available in the form of marriage guidance - with no conditions attached. Religion is redundant.
