I recently started a new job in a hotel (8weeks ago) and there is a guy that stays every week. We talk every time we see each other and we have loads in common, I really want to ask him on a date but don't know wether it would be right a member of staff asking a guest out?
HELP???

No it wouldn't be right.

BUT....if I were you....I would do it.
Wouldn't have thought so. Not very professional.
Find out the rules relating to staff fraternising with guests

lol thanks sqad
don't ask him while on duty.

if you can find out where he goes socially, be there yourself - under the pretence of socialising, and then 'accidentally' meet him.

Im not sure if there is a set of rules to be honest, I know staff have had relationships with other staff and also guests have given staff extravagant gifts
no - unprofessional. You should be treating all guests alike. But off-duty is okay, as excelsior says.
"guests have given staff extravagant gifts"

I think there is a name for this
guests have given staff extravagant gifts

hmmm... this isn't one of these very short-stay hotels, is it? :-)

There lies another problem as he spends his time in the hotel bar or restaurant (whichever I am working in)
This doesn't sound professional at all - guests shouldn't be giving staff gifts (what special favours do they get in return?!) - when I worked in the hotel industry, we were forbidden from fraternising with the guests.

Haha when I say extravagant I dont mean sleezy, we are near a major hospital and familys stay there for months when relatives are in recovery and some staff have recieved mountain bikes, expensive watches, gift cards and so on as thank yous
You could subtly tell him that you are going to this pub later or something like that. Then it is up to him!!
If he is interested, when you mention casually when talking to him, that you are going to, cinema, club, bar theatre or whatever, he will mention tagging along, Where are your feminine wiles?
ask him if he already has a goblin teas maid in his room, if not, arrange a time!

LOL you lot have def made me smile
i would wait until HE asks YOU ...
that would only work cath - if he had the same feelings
