Fair enough - faith comes down to the individfual, to believe or not.
There is no proof, because that is the definition of faith.
Speaking as a atheist, I find it much easier to back up my belief that there is no God, than any Christian trying to explain why there is.

Ah, but you have the whole of eternity to learn from each other, so there's no hurry. The children can learn in their own time, and restrictions from this world are not an issue.

Free will and other cop-outs ad nauseam Ron.
Thought it had been quite a while since the sneering atheists last published. Must be two whole hours at least. I have to say that given the choice between the AB atheist bullies and the Spanish Inquisition, I'll take my chance with the inquisition.

Sorry Ron,
Your post doesn't make sense. Either god doesn't exist - period, or god is like an indifferent parent. You can't have it both ways.
I thought the same as Rojash but I didn't want to get into an argument.
I don't think Ron wants it both ways. The question is aimed at those who believe - and therefore I assume he is seeking answers from that viewpoint.
"sneering atheists" Mike? To whom do you refer? I see no-one sneering on this thread.
Rather than being an indifferent parent I would suggest that God is very much the opposite, very reminiscent of human parents. He tells his children, not wanting to make a scene in public, "How many times have I told you not to do that? Just you wait till I get you home!"
It's impossible to know whether he exists or not. What we can be sure of though is that if he does, he's negligent, incompetent, not very nice, or all three.
Or, as Castlereagh said;
"Every man for himself and God for us all"
All I can say is that if God does not exist and I have been talking B0llocks over the years, then at the end of the day, relying on the principle in Pascal's wager, I shall not be disappointed. If on the other hand I espouse the cause of atheism and he does actually exist... I have a nasty surprise in store.

Mike, //not wanting to make a scene in public//

You are kidding, right?

is that the best you can do?

Question Author
Exactly naomi.
Ron
I didn't think it was too bad an example of God not doing it quietly - as you claim he does, Mike.
The Pope of Rome is not God, despite what he might think to the contrary.
Hi Ron - I find it sad that you went right through Bible College then completely changed your views. Did something happen in your life which caused this change of heart? Why did you go to Bible College in the first place?
That was God !?! OMG, I thought it was just the pope. So what am I to make of a tired looking hoarse God ?
Well, Mike, replace the Pope with the Archbishop of Canterbury if you like, or Billy Graham, or the Islamic preachers. They're all God's spokesmen, aren't they - and I've never seen any of them doing it without making a scene in public
