What is PC ?

"Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical
minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which
holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a piece

From dictionary.com

— adj
PC demonstrating progressive ideals, esp by avoiding vocabulary that is considered offensive, discriminatory, or judgmental, esp concerning race and gender

Of course your attitude is just the sort of thing you'd expect from a woman - probably too complex an idea for you is it love?
LOL @ Jake.

Do you concur them jem, or did you post it as a bit of controversy?
It's a doctrine fostered and promoted by closed-minded bigots who have one fixed view they expect everyone else to follow. If anyone dares to voice a difference of opinion, the PC bigot will decry that individual as an '...ist' spouting '...ism' or a '...phobe' etc. They will then expect everyone else to hate and decry that different opinion and if people don't then the PC bigot will turn their hatred on them and decry them in the same manner.

Open-mindedness comes from accepting and respecting that other people do have different opinions. An open-minded person will listen and respect someone with a difference of opinion to theirs and respect that opinion. What we see with the PC Brigade is that they always decry those voicing different opinions about peoples and issues as 'bigots', whereas all they have in fact done is voice a different opinion. The PC Brigade therefore invariably set themselves as perfect examples of bigots. They have one fixed view which everyone else must agree with and anyone voicing a different opinion is to be hated.

How often have we seen this throughout history? Women were burned at the stake by these people, whole peoples expelled and murdered, millions put in concentration camps etc. Those today who regard themselves as politically acceptable or politically reliable would do exactly the same again given the chance.
"Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical
minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media..."

Haven't noticed the Daily Mail, Daily Express or Sun rabidly promoting political correctness recently, and than God too!
I think the term "PC" is non PC - it should be "Socially Sensitive" ;-)
It's not a new idea. Treat others as you would want them to treat you.
Here's one I made earlier which is a more positive alternative to "vertically challenged" (short): ground-proximity gifted :-)

Not at all complex jake love. PC is a load of twaddle.
"In my humble opinion" AYG ?
PC was introduced way back when to make sure that anyone potentially disadvantaged, wasn't. It now gets in the way of so much - much like Health & Safety. Good idea, taken too far by the zealots.
It's something in between Jake's dictionary definition and what Andyvon said.
Sort of humble AP.

These are not my thoughts at all. These are the thoughts of a group of students at an American college. It was sent to me as an email.
I thought I'd copy/paste it here to see what reaction there was. > > > >Interesting.

I've read the OP several times before I could make a little something of it, and I think it's bologna.
Sometimes you'll hear people say "I don't do P.C" what they're saying is, "I'm obnoxious."
Look at the 1970s (pre P.C) we had sterling shows like "Love Thy Neighbour" and Jim Davidson's hilarious caricature "Chalky White."
The exacesses that are often trotted out by the right wing media are rarely (if ever) produced by minority groups, but by white middle class ner do wells.
It's an American e-mail, says it all, they'll be resurrecting "Amos and Andy" next.
And Noddy can't sleep with Big Ears any more!
PC is a Load of Tripe and as boxy says the Health and Safety has gone the same way.
// Sometimes you'll hear people say "I don't do P.C" what they're saying is, "I'm obnoxious." //

No they're not. They're saying 'I'm sick of pompous tw&ts who don't know anything about me telling me I'm obnoxious because I use words they don't think I should be using, do things they don't think I should be doing, and think thoughts they don't think I should be thinking'.
Noddy no longer sleeps with Big Ears since he met Golly. As the saying goes, once you've tasted chocolate, there's no going back to vanilla. (Please don't report this; it's only a joke, and a very old one at that).
Oh for the days when PC meant Postcard!
