Have you met, or are you still friends with someone that talks in the third person, even about themselves?

Why do they do it? and what do you think of them?

In Ireland years ago, older people would sometimes use it.
"Says I to her..." as an example.
Or Sandy "I said to himself" ...
people with various forms of autism speak in the third person
"Why do they do it?" - Those alone know.

"and what do you think of them?" - Whatever...

cazzz, can people with autism to a degree in maths, then go on to become a teacher?
yes, depending on where they are on the spectrum, Bill gates himself has aspergers syndrome (a form of autism)
of course its a big spectrum that is largely misunderstood, on one end some people cannot talk or dress themselves on the other end some people become maths genius's

essentially where ever they are on the spectrum they remain socially inept.

He doesn't do it for everything he says, but its still quite often. Plus he's a sci-fi addic.
Those who are high functioning autistic can verge on the genius, often in a particular subject.
NoMercy's always referring to herself in the third person.
Chuck never speaks about himself in the 3rd person.

Actually I did know somebody who did talk in the 3rd person a lot, it was very strange, she would be sitting at home and would suddenly announce "Helen is going to the shops"
