me again :)
Nope don't live there but close and know it well, it is a lovely area though, very low crime rate, it's a riverside town with a lot of recent development on the waterfront. not a great range of shops but your only a few minutes drive from colchetster, though the traffic around that end of colchester can be a nightmare at times.
As you have said before that you are moving to the area due to work in clacton then tavel to clacton from there is ideal, however I seem to recall one of you was thinking of working in braintree, that would be a nightmare journey!

I'm fully in agreement with everything CF has said.
My only concern about Wivenhoe might be the risk of flooding in some areas. A flood barrier was installed about 15 years ago, and seems to be doing its job, but changing weather patterns might result in a return to former days, when parts of Wivenhoe flooded quite often: http://www.wivenhoe.gov.uk/OralHistory/riversi de-floods.htm
