nothing.
I thought about giving up smoking and drinking ... and since I don't smoke or drink, that will do nicely!!
Champagne and caviare
Nothing.

I'm a catholic, well, used to be, and only once in my life have I managed to see it through.

It was forced on us. One year I gave up biting my nails because I had to give up something and I wasn't giving up sweets..!!!
Sharon it's not just Catholics who give up things for Lent.
Andy as a self confessed atheist why would you think of giving anything up
Margo...lol...I think he might be joking.

Giving up something he doesn't do might be the clue.
atheists can give things up. It's no bad thing to be able to demonstrate that in control of your own life, you're not a slave to habit nor addicted to anything.
My new years resolutions.
It's so cruel that the Catholic church didn't take into consideration that Paddy's day is in lent!

I thought it was a Catholic thing!!!
Lol @ Arks
At church on Sunday our minister suggested that rather than giving up anything, perhaps we could all give something. A wee prayer for family/friends, a few coppers in a collecting can, a bunch of flowers to a friend etc etc. Sounded sensible to me so I have said a wee prayer today for all my friends/family including my "on-line" ones.
Sharon, C of E do as well, not certain about other Churches though
Margo - as ummm said - //Margo...lol...I think he might be joking.

Giving up something he doesn't do might be the clue. //

I was.

It is.
Someone I used to work with - a catholic - gives up chocolate and wine for Lent, and every year she lost half a stone!
I will give up shaving, does that count?
Same as Ratter......☺
Leaning and lending.
Church of Scotland doesn't acknowledge Lent (hoorah for us!).

Ratter, I don't know what kind of things are acceptable, but it is reminiscent of dry January and Movember without the money bit!!
