Is there a recognition nowadays, from the Government or whoever, when a citizen attains their 100th birthday?

I think a relative has to apply to the palace for the telegram from the queen acknowledging the 100th birthday
I might have got this wrong but doesn't the Queen send a Footman to the local branch of Clintons Cards to get a special card, that are kept in a secret drawer in every branch ? I don't think that she actually licks the envelope herself, as she probably has a special licker on standby.
