Keyplus, on another thread, has suggested that Sharia Law is the answer to Britain's problems. This lady, an ex-Muslim, would disagree.

Incidentally, the video is only about a minute long, so easy watching.
I think we have a generally good legal system which suits the vast majority of the country's populace.
I have no sound on this computer so will watch later. Like Zacs says, I think our laws cover everything that needs to be covered.
Good find, naomi

I didn't find it Boxy, Em did, and posted it elsewhere. It's the little programme I watch most nights, but I missed that one.
She speaks a lot of sense. Having seen it from both sides she obviously knows more about it than I do.
I don't think Sharia law can offer anything whatsoever to the UK that would be of benefit to us.
sharia law - although admittedly in a limited way - is already here.

That's what she acknowledges in the clip, mushroom.
can't watch the clip, sadly - "streaming media" is blocked at work :-(
keyplus also stated that Sharia was set out in the Quran and therefore God's words. She also claimed the Quran was pure and not based on the O.T as Judism and Christianity were.
She based this on the fact Muhammad was illiterate and had therefore never read the Bible.
In fact the pre-Islamic world of Arabia was heavily influenced by the Bible.
In Arabia there were numerous Jewish settlements and some Christian against which Muhammad made war. Right next door there was Christian Ethiopia which gave refuge to many of Muhammad followers.
Muhammad himself was a trader and traded with all these people plus
those from surrounding countries.
So Muhammad was well aware of the Jewish and Christian beliefs. He also made reference to them and to Abraham's son Ishmael father of the Arab peoples.
In addition all the Bibles prophets are also those of Islam .
Their holy shrine the Kabaar in Mecca is the site where Abraham was prepared to sacrifice his son.
To say that the Quran is the pure words of God is nonsense they were heavily influenced by the bible.
What are pure are their more extreme interpretation of the punishments in the bible and adopted by Islam in the Sharia.
Life in Arabia especially for women was better before Muhammad. In fact Muhammad's wife had had her own company and wealth before they were married.

modeller, Keyplus is a bloke.
First of all my "suggestion" Naomi is talking about was just a joke. But unfortunately "sometimes" Naomi can't tell the difference. Any one who would see that "other" thread would find that out. And here its is,

http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Society-and-Culture/Question1208255.html

But as this thread is here now so let’s talk about this.

That woman's claim about Shariah Law in Sudan is not true. She must have left Islam for her own personal reasons. There is not a single country in the world right now that has complete Shariah Law. Saudi Arabia has parts of it implemented and that's all. Few people use this word Shariah Law to abuse their own position in few countries and societies. By doing that they have presented people with something way different from Shariah law and given people something to fear about. And that is the reason today people are scared of word "Shariah law". Because they have presented something else with the tag on it. When real Shariah law was acted upon then message of Islam spread across many areas because of the equality, practicality and beauty of it. And history is full of it, but if someone has to believe in myth then of course Islam was spread by sword. Which Islamic sword went to Indonesia (largest Islamic country)?

First of all None Muslims has nothing to worry about Shariah law as it does not apply on them any way. And then in this world today probably Muslims are more hypocritical about Shariah law than any none Muslims. But finally Shariah law is a very long subject and cannot be talked as a whole. If someone has problems about the parts of the Shariah law then those problems should be discussed. I am sure many of them we have already discussed here before.
Thanks Naomi . I mistook your reference to his other thread a while back.
You may remember it. I
http://d1.islamhouse....he_red_underpants.pdf
cont: It's rather long and predictable but very informative into the male muslim mind. I have read many of keypluses post for which I thank him but I still get the feeling that they are from a female but not from the link
I've just posted I must admit. I think possibly it's the emotional content.
I have also watched 4 of the others on the clip's page and find that if we could only take the good parts out of all religions and apply them in law, it has to improve, except for the criminals of course.

Keyplus, //First of all my "suggestion" Naomi is talking about was just a joke.//

Oops …. did you suddenly remember that almost everything you’ve ever posted here is still here? Careful Keyplus. ;o)

//That woman's claim about Shariah Law in Sudan is not true. //

Why wouldn’t it be true? This is the country where, among its other barbaric practices, women have been lashed for wearing trousers, where ranting hordes of madmen have called for the death of a teacher for allowing her class of infants to name a teddy bear ‘Mohammed’ – and where the president has said that a one hundred per cent Islamic constitution would be adopted,

//She must have left Islam for her own personal reasons. //

Yes, she did, and that reason is because she is a woman, and as such was treated by Islam as one unworthy of common humanity. Thankfully she has had the sense and the opportunity to get out – and I hope that many more will have the same opportunity to follow her example. There’s nothing ‘beautiful’ about Islam, or Sharia Law – particularly if you happen to have been born a woman.

I'll answer the original question - What Does Sharia Law Have To Offer Britain?

Nothing. Its introduction would be a grossly retrograde step.
"Muhammad's wife had had her own company and wealth before they were married. " according to what I've read about her, she carried on doing so - she kept busy with trade while M was off doing his good works.
Question Author
Boxy, shame the same doesn't apply to the many downtrodden women of Islam now - and I wouldn't call his works 'good'. He was an ambitious warmonger!
Keyplus - “... First of all None Muslims has nothing to worry about Shariah law as it does not apply on them any way...”

As you well know Keyplus, your above statement is simply untrue. Shariah law has quite a lot to say about non-muslims and their rights under Islamic rule.

Non-muslims are Dhimmis. This term has a very specific meaning under Shariah law. Basically Dhimmis are afforded less legal rights than muslims. They are less than second-class citizens. They are 'protected' in return for high taxes; it amounts to exactly what it sounds like – an Islamic protection racket. Wikipedia has a very Islamic friendly entry about Dhimmis but even their rose-tinted description has included this accurate sentence, “... Classical sharia attributes different legal rights and obligations to different religious groups; in practice, this consisted of curbs on the rights and freedoms of non-Muslims...”

To say that Sharia law does not apply to non-muslims is a gross lie Keyplus. Over the years I've come to expect nothing less than outright fabrications from you when it comes to Islam and you never disappoint me.
