Making necklaces with suede thonging

Does anyone make pendants etc using leather or suede thonging please?
A friend wants to make a necklace and she has bought her bits and bobs, but we have no idea how to fix the springy thingy to the end of the thonging to take a fastening.
Could anyone help please?
