Another post on the subject of class prompted memories of those really classy items.

Are you having a party a la Abigail ?
sadly blue nun is still available, fondue sets were big again last year so yes only better designed with electric heating rather than those iffy burners and prints of the chinese lady some kitsch shops still have them
Blue Nun - Yes....

Fondue sets - Yes

Chinese Lady - haven't a clue.
Having class, is knowing what one likes, and not being afraid to say so!

I like Blue Nun :0)
Just googled Chinese lady...I've never seen that pic before.
Do you also like mateus rose and stick a candle in the empty bottle?

I used to like Black Tower and something disgustingly called Bulls Milk ... or was it Bulls Blood ? Horrid rough wine, anyway.
salla, yes I like Mateus Rose, and I very often have to have a candle in a bottle as the leccy here is very unstable!
On the subject of naffness

worse by far than the chinese lady but loads of people had one...(I actually bought one of the original limited edition prints with money I had for my 18th birthday...thought i was Well classy..) knew better by my 19th sold it to a friend
At a profit I hope rowan.
a small one... but would have sold it at a loss if he promised not to say who he got it from..
Did you have that picture with the little boy blowing bubbles? Or am I getting mixed up with a Pears Soap commercial ?

I had Salvador Dali on my walls - I thought I was tres cool and artistic...
I remember Marks and Spencers used to sell the Chinese Lady pictures in the 60s..... or perhaps it was British Home stores... but I can remember them displayed on the wall of the stairs in the shop in Crewe. oops showing my age again. LOL
I remember buying chianti (in the straw basket thingy) and sticking a candle in that when empty. Oooooh, I thought it was classy. Sad eh?
Salla - the little boy and the bubbles were by the artist Millais.. I only know that because I went to Millais girls school and there was a picture of it in the main entrance.. tried to post a link but failed miserably...
better than Mateus
Ooh hippy - that sounds very posh!
Posh?! - I think not Salla.. Just happend to be the closest school to home... and the fact that there was a boy's school round the corner was a bonus.. *swoon* at the thought of getting a glimpse of John Robinson walking home....
I had a different love interest each year - Andy Fisher, Stephen Broderick, Joe Colam.... I went to an all-girls school also. Mistake. If I had gone to a same-sex school I might have realised much earlier just what kn0bs most boys are....
it was bulls blood salla, that just brought back some memories...
