Is sheepskin the same as say skinning a cat or a dog to use its fur, or is it literally shaving the wool off the sheep to use. Ie: is the result the death of the sheep?

hi hamish, yes it's just like the leather we use from the death of a cow. when the wool is still attached to the skin then it's actually been taken from a dead sheep. when they sheer the wool from a sheep, that's when we end up with just wool etc on it's own. as cows and sheep are used as food then there is not as much of an issue as using this byproduct as with dogs and cats skin/fur - well, in this country anyway. china etc is a different story......horrific!
