I have bought some DIPHENHYDRAMINE HYDROCHLORIDE ["sleepeaze"] as I`m only getting one hour`s sleep. Last night was the first tablet and I slept really well until 2 am [3 hrs] then it was not so good . Web site says they last 4 to 8 hrs.Can I take another one mid way through the night, although the pkt says not?

I would, I'm not a doctor so you can't take this as 'it's ok to' but if it was me, I would.

However, there's obviously other reason why you're not getting to sleep, which you have to identify. Is your bed comfortable? the right temperature? are you relaxed, calm and tired before you get into bed? Is something waking you up? can you change it? Another trick someone on here told me, which works well for me is to count slowly to 50, if you go wrong or you're not sure if you missed out a number, start again, if you reach 50, start counting backwards. It might take you two or three goes to start with, but it does the trick of focussing your mind on something other than your worries (which is always the cause of my insomnia). Or keeping the radio on, very very softly.

I know how dibilitating it can be so I hope you sort it out. Go and see the doctor if nothing else is working. good luck x

Many thanks, Englishbird. I am naturally a bad sleeper and have tried every thing to combat it but I have a big worry at the moment which is making it worse, this is the first time I have tried sleeping tablets.
I sleep for around two hours, wake up, go back to sleep, another two hours, like this all night, then of course hot sweats sometimes come into it. My doctor gave me Temazipam and I find when I take one (or a half) , I still wake in the night, but not as often. He did tell me to have a 10 day course of them, as it might break the habit, but I didn't want to actually get addicted to them. The doctor might be your best plan. I also rang a specialist who told me to go to bed later - around midnight - and get up at 6 am so my sleep time is more condensed, which makes sense, but I am a bit lazy to get up that early. Might work for you though. The 'big worry' you have is probably making the sleeping worse, your mind seems to go ten to the dozen during the night, doesn't it? Good luck.
Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress, dietary and medical problems. By making small lifestyle changes like having a fixeddaily routine, relaxing and eating properly, insomnia can becured. I found the information at http://tinyurl.com/jfzpz useful
for getting sleep.
