My wife never expected me to pay when we were courting and she told our daughters the same - always pay your own share, especially on a first date, then you won't feel obliged to see him again and he won't be expecting 'favours'.  Always make sure you have the money to pay for a taxi home.

I am quite shocked that women today expect men to pay, especially on a first date.  The days of men earning a lot more than women are (mostly) over.  Where's the pride?

The gender pay gap is now where near as bad as it was say for example when I started working.

But I don't think the gender pay gap is the issue here tbh.

Abbey - if you are going on as many dates as you are you cannot expect the bloke to pay and I would be surprised if you could afford it!

If you know you don't like men under 5ft 8 - why are you going on dates with them - your heart and mind won't be in it.
