Try to be polite, it can be an effort sometimes!
Well, I don't spend all my spare time on AB when I have visitors.
I cook things that they like rather than what we like. They all seem to be such fussy eaters, my guests.
Hoover more regularly.
Sit at the table for our meals
Haaa!
get dressed rather than lolling around in my jimmies
organise meals rather than seeing what's in the fridge
stop piling on my knitting and newspapers on the sofa
etc
Make sure the bodies are hidden.
Ken4155, that's also an Ofsted prep plan!
Try to be tidy....its a real effort. Also not shout at the annoying deaf cat......

pheww! None of you have said anything to send me into a tail spin......

I flippin' hate having house guests, friends and family for dinner I don't mind, I just loathe rathe disruption of overnight and longer visitors:-(
pastafreak; is that rhyming slang?
Do you mean guests who stay overnight? If so we never have them, we have a teeny weeny two up, two down terraced house, both bedrooms are occupied and I sleep in the lounge, so no room for anyone else.
I'm usually quite a tidy person - until guests stay, then I just let all hell break loose and let them trash the joint ! No point in tidying up whatsoever...
I forgot to mention

If someone's coming, I'll clean the stairs (something I rarely do), and make sure that the toilets are clean and shiny.

I hate it to, Eccles. It's a pain pretending to be civilised !.
One thing I don't do when we have guests, is shout at Mr Tilly. I am always on my best behavior.
behaviour!
I prefer having weekend guests to having dinner guests. Clean sheets and a towel at the bottom of the bed is doable, but I loathe cooking for more than us two so weekend guests get taken to the country pub on Saturday evening and take us to the next country pub for Sunday lunch!

Dinner guests are out of the question.

Ermmm...no. What did you think it was?
I couldn't cope with all the criticism that's dragged up in 'Four in a Bed' when the rooms are searched for the dreaded HAIRS and DUST.
Then there's the pickiness over the sausages etc. at breakfast.

That's why I haven't started charging yet.
