maybe you should start by giving them a certain amount of time on the consoles, children need exercise. What about a scooter? or inline skates?
Question Author
they have a scooter, bike, pogo sticks etc.
they get exercise.they go to dance class and do after school sports 3 days a week.
we live on a busy main road so skates would be a no go really as we don't really live near anywhere where they could use them.my youngest son has asked for heelies but i think they are quite expensive as he will grow out of them quickly
how about getting them a wii, f you can find one) they can play together and get a bit of indoor exercise as well as quenching their thirst for games
Get them a football, goalie gloves, shinnies, favourite team tops etc. Easy!
do they like anything arty?
My sons are also 6 and 7.

They have a play station as well, but like your boys they go to plenty of sports classes and when the weather is okay,, they are out and about.

Things they want and some of which they are getting are:

Lego especially Star Wars lego
Anything to do with Star Wars
Transformers
Meccano
Books - Horrid henry annual and beano annual in particular
Watches
Nintendo DS lite and games
Tamacotchi 4 plus
Funkeys
Remote Control dragonfly
Spy Gear
Stink Bomb set
Puppet Chimp
Puppet emu
DVDs
Football Trainer thing - ball attaches to your waist
One wants 3 elves
Other wants to be turned into Sonic the hedgehog
MP3 player speakers that look like a car
Coin sorter
Science Set
Hot Wheels Criss Cross Crash
Harry Potter Games
Soduko book
Electronic Chess trainer

I am sure that they are still adding to the lists, so if you need any more ideas......

They tend to look through toy magazines and Argos catalogue for ideas and then I try to steer them onto the things that i have already bought in the sales!!!

thank you very much for that.that helps alot....
i'm off to start circling pages in the argos book.
hope everyone has a nice xmas
Annie has provided an excellent list. I hope that you'll allow me to add just one suggestion which, from experience (on several occasions!), I know is usually a 'hit' with young boys:

A pair of walkie-talkie radios seems to impress kids as a 'grown up' present but still offers plenty of play value. You'd be able to give the boys a 'joint' present, rather than individual ones. If the idea sounds attractive to you, ensure that you buy the ones which come with a base unit for recharging (otherwise you'll spend a fortune on batteries!). Also, of course, charge them up before giving them to your youngsters. (6 and 7 year olds aren't noted for having a great deal of patience!). Look on page 1031 of your Argos catalogue (top right) for a suitable pair of radios for 19.99.
