For me it used to be singing carols in the village pub on Christmas Day. But sadly this tradition has died away in the last few years after centuries of celebration. Now I enjoy having the neighbours in for snacks and drinks on Christmas Eve. What does it for you?

The Christmas tree. And the bits of holly, ivy and mistletoe around the house. Just the thought that after the solstice the days will start getting longer.

Oh yeah, and whisky with ginger wine isn't bad either. ;-)
Days will soon be on the turn
Absolutely nothing! It just makes people on their own feel lonelier and all the tv ads just prove that it is now nothing more than commercialism. Puts so many people in debt buying thing that they can't afford.

That we only have to have it once a year :(

God! Are there no Workhouses? Bah, humbug!
Christmas Tree, Twinkling lights and Children's laughter.
When it's over.
Winding the kids up about black Peter, pretending we can hear sleigh bells in the distance, the complete belief that the younger ones have in it all, watching boy #2 stuggle with pretending he still understands when he is wavering. I appreciate that for people on their own it must be difficult, but lots of things are difficult for lots of people every day. I view Christmas as a time for children, there's no need to get stressed out or over spend.
rabet - I'd willingly worship the sun if I knew were it was! I do like Christmas, but not half as much as I like that moment in late January when I leave work, look at the sky and think, 'Hang on a sec, why's that bit of sky not pitch black?'
Boxing day.
Christmas Eve and Mum's potato and onion dish on Christmas Day...couldn't ask for anything more!

Yes. I love the tree; but how expensive these days!
Being with my family
Family parties......and games and quizzes.....Nibbles, decorations, long cosy evenings when the daughter visits.....Christmas cake....I love Christmas cake......and surprise presents.

Happy Christmas, Rabet.....x
I love hearing the carols ( I sing them all year round ) and all the lights. I love the way looney lights break up the darkness. Now the children are nearly grown up, it loses a bit of magic and we don't celebrate the religious angle. I neither want or worry about it ! Soon be here and gone.
Love giving up my recliner to whichever of my offspring took it over while I was performing my role of house slave. Losing my favourite music, TV and best whisky to the said offspring whose tastes are refreshingly different to ours. Traipsing round to visit those whose Xmas is apparently enhanced by the company of self and better half. Oh, and having a few with mates on Boxing Day- now that I truly enjoy.
I must explain, I worked 30 years for a company that made most of their profit from Xmas and Easter. Each started maybe 6 months previous, with advertising, ordering etc.
By April, or December, I was brassed of with it all.
Grandchildren are 15 and 11 but they still play along. Treats for Santa and Rudolph, reindeer food in the garden, foot and hoof prints in the hearth.
Load of big softies who enjoy playing together.
Not much.Thirty years ago my died very suddenly on the 23rd December,
explaining to to a bunch of kids under ten why their nana isn't there on Christmas Day to help them open their pressies put me off Christmas for life so now I just go through the motions.
