If it's cotton, boil-wash it. Other than that, I have no idea, sorry.

Iodine is not very soluble in water but it is fairly reactive. It is soluble in potassium iodide solution but that is not very easy to get hold of since most of the old fashioned chemist shops have vanished. Washing soda solution might work as it should produce the iodide salt which is soluble.
e How recommends Sodium thiosulphate ('hypo' fixer available from photographic shops) You don't need the full chemical protection gear that they recommend as it is pretty harmless. I used to use it in developing photos and never noticed any harmful effects.
Hi Chet.. Just tried washing soda on dried iodine and it seems to work. It may need a soak if it is in the seams. you could try a cold wash in a washing machine (agitation should help) with washing soda instead of detergent, I don't think hot water will make a lot of difference.
Iodine is soluble in alcohol - hence, tincture of iodine. Try neat vodka if you have any.
Sounds promising Gingebee
