What do you call bouts of sunshine and no rain. ?

We all know what showers are , intermittent periods of rain. but what single word describes , intermittent periods of sunshine.
Today we have had half hour periods of sunshine followed by half hour periods of dark clouds and strong winds but not a spot of rain and it occurred to me we don't have a single word to describe that weather condition.
