Night sky

Not sure if this is the right place, but what are the two bright lights to the south/south west early evening? Venus is the lower one(?) but is the higher one Neptune or Jupiter as I have had both names offered? Thank you for any help. It is amazing to have had such a good view of these and some stars over the weekend, as Leicester street lights make viewing difficult.

It's Jupiter. If you've got a pair of binoculars you can see the moons.
Mercury is close to but just above the horizon too.

That's what I tell my neigbour when she's at the bathroom wiindow.
As carrust says, its Jupiter and there have been recent threads about it.. If You have a clear view Wast, Mars may be picked out low down
It's not fair, been cloudy where I live for several nights in a row, so not seen a thing! By the time the damn clouds clear, they will have gone !
Agree Jupiter it is, yes flicrat it has been amazing to see these , down here in the southeast they have been on view since Saturday.
For the past week Venus and Jupiter have been converging with one another ending with a triangle and the crescent moon on Sunday. Friday evening was a fantastic show of them both with the crescent moon. There will be another view like this in March. If you check my Space Station sighting on Chatterbox which I have been posting for the last few years the info will be on there nearer the time. The Space Station has been on view over the UK for the last few weeks but last evening sighting to night for a few weeks.
That should have said chatterbank
You would need a telescope to see neptune.
