One would have thought so, but you never know with Labour.
So, who can take over, then?
Obvious choice is the Abbott woman.
He really needs to take the hint.

Well, more than a hint...and go.

But who to replace him?

Perhaps Roy Hodgson?
Question Author
Diane Abbott would be an even bigger disaster.
176 - 40 is not "a few MPs", like the Corbyn supporters have been trying to pretend. He should resign, force a leadership election, and prove that he still has the support of the party, and stop showing such contempt for his colleagues.

Of all the fallouts from Thursday's result, this is the one that troubles me the most. How meaningful will it be to have Parliament sovereign in future and under the control of the people if, from now on, there is basically only one realistic choice each time? The Labour Party is being utterly, utterly stupid.

I'd vote for him again, I think he's been just what Labore needed!
Will he get the 35 nominations to get on a future ballot.

Grumpy, my remark about La Abbott was firmly tongue-in-cheek.
Mikey,your party needs you.

Me too Balders..
I'd Vote for Abbot too though. What about the beast of Balsover?
Not so. He may represent the views of traditional Labour activists, but not traditional Labour voters who, in my experience, are well to the right of UKIP.
Agreed Balders but I must draw a comparison that the usual suspects will find offensive. Corbyn has the Hitler bunker mentality of denial. He is plucking faceless names out of obscurity to try and make a credible cabinet. Its all about himself now. A meglomaniac loser.
At least Hitler eventually got around to shooting himself...

As it was a secret ballot I cannot see any justification for any deselection.
Hilary Benn is the only one who would have any respect at the ballot box.
I don't know which way my MP voted (though I could have a very good guess) but I suspect she won't tell me or anyone else.
he was elected by party members, not MPs. It raises the question of who should be in charge, but if MPs are seen to sack their duly appointed leader then you can expect party membership to dwindle fast. Coups are seldom popular.
