Take the surname of Charlie, a golfer who plays mainly on the US PGA Tour, and add a certain vowel. You now have the surname of a far better known American golfer. Both surnames are pronounced the same. What are they?
I have found PGA players called Charles or Charlie, with surnames Hoffman Howell Warren Coody Sifford and Wi, and also Carlos Franco, but I am still in the dark. Any hints would be very much appreciated.

Very many thanks. I am sure you must be right, and I thought it had to be Wi, but I know very few names of golfers, and I realise that I hadn't looked for female golfers.
