Cuckoo

I heard the first cuckoo a couple of days ago. Has anyone else heard one yet?

Not yet, maggie. It would be interesting to know which part of the country you live in. Can you tell us?

In the meantime, I'll keep listening out for our first one.

Not yet Maggie, only the odd wood pigeon that almost had me fooled for one second. I usually hear one one agout the 24th of april, yours was certaily an early bird !!

Lucky you maggie, no such luck, but on Sunday I saw my first Chiffchaffs and Willow Warblers. Haven't heard a Cuckoo for a couple of years now...very sad.

at my job I hear cuckoo's all the time, most belong in the looney bin.....LOL

But seriously, I don't hear them. I do see a few Dark eyed Juncos that winter in our area and they are still here, so I know winter is not over, when they leave, I know we are headed for spring.

No cuckoos yet- but saw swallows, house and sand martins during my stint on the reserve last Saturday

Just over the border from me in Wiltshire, then, maggie. I didn't hear one cuckoo close to home last year. The closest was in the Malvern Hills. Lets hope we have more luck this year.
