as truss seems likely to backpedal on her right-wing mini-budget this afternoon the party looks too divided to actually agree on anything despite having a huge majority…

apart from brexit, what do they actually want to do?

It doesn't matter what 'they want to do'. On stabling Boris in the back they've destroyed any chance of doing anything significant. Fools all.
i'm a simple soul re politics so why did they vote for her if they don't want to back her?
Kwarteng will be sacked today …
*stabbing
keep their jobs.
aelmpvw, it was the party members who voted for her. The actual MPs didn't want her, they wanted Sunak.
Agree Naomi !

they still have two years with a majority… what do they want to do with it?
Naomi; I was enjoying the image of Johnson being tied up in the stables behind number ten!
ael - they (Tory MPs) didn't vote for her, the Tory party members did
The Conservatives have only ever been in power to make the rich richer as well as creating opportunities for others to become rich. The trickle-down effect then makes the rest of the general population better off.
And I have never been a stalwart Conservative!
jno, Sunak would have fared no better. Neither are up to the job.
Atheist, thought you might - hence the speedy amendment. ;o)
The Tories made a big mistake in booting out a competent PM and the electorate can see that. Labour will get back in when their chance comes.
Trickle-down effect. I feel sorry for the people in the bottom bunk.
Think you got it right with "stabling" Naomi - bit of a ass that one.
we've no idea if Sunak's up to the job or not; I can only say I've thought all along he was the best candidate of an uninspiring bunch. The goverment's short-term aim is to stop themselves looking like a bunch of clowns, and I think he's still the best bet for that. He seems to have a fair amount of political nous, which is a start; neither Truss nor Kwarteng has displayed any at all.
William, I agree with you!
^ thanks for the clarification, it makes sense to me now i (i think)
so i assume that means the tory party members aren't in sync with the tory mps? (know now why i don't get involved with politics :-)
