Runner ?
That nice Mr Google says that both 'bed runner' and 'bed scarf' are terms in use - but I have to admit that I've never heard anyone refer to a bed scarf! (Perhaps it's American?)

runner - that's it - thanks guy, senior moments I'm having
The only thing that lies across the bottom of my duvet is a cat ;-)

sure Chris - you wouldn't have it any other way. my Maxie jumps on the bed too, but boy is he stubborn - when "I" put him on the bed - he immediately jumps off and into his own bed, but sometime in the night when I am in lala land - he jumps on his own accord.
You've been conned by the rescue centre, Jennyjoan. Maxie's clearly not a dog at all; he's a cat!

;-)
Its incredible the amount of interesting threads that barely go beyond 2 or 3 answers. But a strip of material attached to a quilt will poss get 25+ answers, lol.
jenny, why do you have a strip of material lying across the bottom of your duvet? I've never heard of such a thing?
I have a blanket lying at one side of the side of the duvet. If it gets cold(er) I pull the blanket over me. I call it a blanket (fleece).
I'm surprised you've never heard of a bed runner Atheist.

Bed runners are usually used with white duvet covers, Atheist, (particularly in boutique hotels, etc) to give a splash of colour. Matching cushions are commonplace too: https://tinyurl.com/7urptchd
Surely life's too short for this?
Or am I missing out?
I have never been able to see the point of them
bed runner/scarf?
Is a bed runner attached to the duvet, or just a bit of cloth that lies on top of the bottom? Sounds interesting - might stop my wife from doing a back-flick in the middle of the night, thus leaving my sensitive feet bare.
mamy and buen... I don't frequent hotels - I've led a very sheltered and frugal life, in order to get my kids through Eton.
I have a blanket on the side of the bed. It's for the cats
I usually have a bedspread on my bed, usually folded in half and laid over the bottom of the bed. I can pull it up over my duvet if it's really cold for an extra layer, or, when it's hot but I still need a layer, just sleep under the bedspread as it's cooler.

I don't get the masses of pillows thing, even if it looks pretty, to throw them all off when you want to get in to bed, then put them all back on in the morning.
I have a fleecy blanket at the bottom of my bed, it's to pull up over my duvet when I get up in case my dog wants to nip upstairs and have a snooze !
I’d call it a throw
