I'm going to do a parachute jump to raise funds for Longfield Hospice in Gloucestershire. The hospice is dear to me as they looked after my Vera and, indeed me. Vera was a patient there twice, I was a patient there once. I'm now an Ambassador and a volunteer for Longfield Hospice.
To do this, I need to raise a minimum of £400 to pay for the jump. Anything over that will go to the hospice. It costs north of £10,000 a day to run the hospice. Nobody is ever turned away.
There is no residential unit, but a Hospice at Home service is run. That means that the patient is in their own home with their loved ones around them. During the final few weeks, a dedicated nurse, matched to the family, will visit every day. Staying overnight if necessary, and will be there at the end to support the family and help them through that difficult time and help with everything that needs to be done.
So please help the Hospice to help those that are in need of their help.
As soon as I know when the jump will take place I will post it on here and in my Good morning early birds thread.

I'm up for that, Boaty!
I would be delighted to make a donation. Well done, you, for doing the jump. You're a braver soul than I.
I'm in !! I nearly did one once but chickened out when the training jumps got to 15 feet !! good on you ! xx
Bleedin' 'ell Boaty, are you mad?
Well done. I'm in. Have you ever jumped before?
Scared to death at the thought!
An excellent idea, Waterboatman!
Wishing you every success!
I'll make a donation if there's a foolproof method of doing it.
Go for it, my mum's best friend did her first jump in her mid eighties and can't wait o have another go.
I wonder if baldric will give it a go? He has a history of skydiving ;-)

Thanks to all for your offers to donate.
Payment details tomorrow on here and my morning thread
That will be postal and electronic.
Thank you all.
pmsl as to melv's comment - thank goodness though that it wasn't more serious as we would have missed those sardonic comments....
Oh gawd mate! Do or die! I am I awe od anyone who can do such a thing. You have my utmost admiration. How wonderful..I congratulate you in your awe inspiring decision...xxx
and thanks for the details, boaty, when you post them....

Maybe the Ed or subbish Ed could make a sticky of this for progress, jokes, comments and the rest.

I'll start on the jokes

Four people are in an airplane: Donny Pres Trump, the smartest man in the world, Boaty and a young girl. The plane catches on fire and there are only three parachutes.

Donny grabs one of the bags and says, “My country needs me!” and jumps.

The smartest man in the world grabs one and says, “Well, the world needs me, since I'm so smart,” and jumps.

One parachute left and Boaty says, “You take it, my life is almost over anyway.”

The little girl says, “No. We both can jump.”

Confused, Boty asks, “How?” The little girl says, “President Trump has taken my backpack.

My feet are staying on the ground this time Melv ;o))
Well done boatman, that is a great thing to do for the Hospice,

Having forgotten to put contact details on here yesterday, here it is. For all that worried about security, worry not, it is very secure.
Thank you everyone.

Wbm, a question, I can see how to donate to the Hospice on that Link, but how do we specify a donation is to sponsor your jump and not just a gift to the Hospice?

Have answered my own question ^^^^ there is a space on the form where you can specify what your donation is for, problem solved.
Good luck WBM x
