Good Morning Early Birds!

Saturday. Overcast this morning, but it's high cloud this time, so I'm not expecting any rain...I hope! The cloud cover means it's not as cold as predicted.
Tiggy has had his supper, but not gone to bed yet. I could hear him rootling about in garden, so he hasn't gone far. I had a short walkabout, but nothing else out and about.
Have a happy day everyone.

I ought to be going to bed but I'm seriously tempted to open another bottle of beer as I'm not feeling at all tired. (That's not quite as bad as it sounds, since I've only drunk two bottles since well before midnight but opening a beer at 5am still feels a bit naughty to me!).
The forecast for your part of the world looks quite good:

To try to remind myself of roughly where you are, and remembering previous conversations about hostelries in your area, I've just put 'Waterboatman pub' into AB's search facility. It returns no fewer than 10 questions and 158 answers. I wonder why that it?
;-)

Morning Chris. A beer at 5AM under the circumstances sounds good to me. It wouldn't be the first time I've done that...in the right circumstances!
Thanks for the weather report. Obviously, the nicer it is the more customers we get, and each one is potential new member for the trust. We have over eight and a half thousand now!
I'm in Gloucestershire. My favourite watering holes are, The Tudor Arms at Shepherd's Patch on the Gloucester and Sharpness canal, The George at Frocester, The Rose and Crown at Rangeworthy, The Rose and Crown at Nympfield, The Anchor at Oldbury, to name but a few. I've been known to visit others too. :o} I'm known in all of them! :o} They are all excellent restaurants too.

You're welcome Chris.
The average cost around here is about £10 for a main course. The standard in all the pubs I mentioned is very high, I wouldn't go there, and take friends if it wasn't. So £14 is high.
Near the Visitor Centre is the Stables Cafe. In the days of horse drawn boats it was indeed the stables for the horses to have a comfortable night. It is owned by a lovely lass who is the daughter of a friend of Vera's. Once again, the standard is high. It's less than a minute's walk. I'm sure you can find all of those on google.

I'll get to some of them one day, Boaty ;-)
There are actually some excellent (reasonably priced) pubs around here but my problem is that 'eating out' for me often means that I'm going somewhere with a friend from Italy who seems to assume that a pub isn't worth visiting unless its expensive. (She's always saying that she's hard up but she's got a smart flat in Ipswich as well her home in Trieste, with bank accounts in Italy, the UK, the USA and Switzerland. She's constantly travelling around the world too, to places like Geneva, Klosters, etc, which aren't exactly noted for their low prices!) Her idea of 'inexpensive' doesn't always tie up too well with mine! For example, she likes this pub:

If I suggest somewhere cheaper she'll automatically assume that the food won't be very good! (To make matters worse, she's a very fussy vegetarian, so finding a pub with something on the menu that she likes can be tricky!)

Hello. Happy Saturday. I've not been in bed long, and I can't get to sleep. I spent most of the night in the back of a car, coming home from Sheffield.
The game last night went according to plan. The plan was to lose 2-0 and get four players injured. That way, we lull Sheffield Wednesday into a false sense of security. Then we will beat them 3-0 on Monday, and go into the Play Off Final.

It is, admittedly, an unorthodox strategy.
It's never a dull moment with the Seagulls. Our last four seasons have ended ...
2013 - lost in the Play Offs
2014 - lost in the Play Offs
2015 - almost got relegated
2016 - losing in the Play Offs
It was so much easier when we were in League One, and playing at Withdean athletics ground. I didn't sign up for all this anxiety.
However, two goals down, and with several players injured, is clearly a position of tactical dominance, and Monday will be our day.
